Technology Centre of Excellence – Great Minds at Work
The Technology Centre of Excellence is where our specialist experts, thought leadership, and R&D work occurs within BBD. New and emerging technologies are researched to assist in early or rapid adoption through technology readiness (TR) training sessions. The three key areas within the TCE are Microsoft, Java and Mobile development.
Experts from within the TCE are seconded to project teams within BBD on an ad hoc basis to assist on development projects and to upskill / mentor the project team’s members on the latest technologies. In addition, weekly training sessions are held by our TCE team to development and technical staff to ensure knowledge and skill transfer on the latest technologies.
The members of the TCE also function as Technical Consultants for technical consulting engagements.
Microsoft Technology Experts
A technology-oriented team focused primarily on Microsoft® software, and integration to other technologies. The core objectives of the team are to research, understand and upskill on current and forthcoming technologies; and to supply a value-adding service that helps solution teams successfully implement solutions ranging from standalone to heterogeneous enterprise solutions. BBD has three Microsoft® MVPs (Most Valuable Professionals) in its employ, more than any other African company.
Java Application Development Experts
A technology-oriented team focused primarily on Java, Java EE, Java SE, IBM® WebSphere, WebSphere® Portal, Oracle/BEA® Weblogic, JBoss®, Glassfish® Application Servers, and related software, as well as their integration with other technologies. The core objectives of the team are to research, understand and define best practices around current and forthcoming Java technologies; and supply a value-adding service that helps solution teams successfully implement solutions ranging from standalone to heterogeneous enterprise solutions.

BBD have a strong and growing competence in developing applications for different mobile handsets and tablets, including:
