FAQs

What we do

BBD is a leading software development company that provides complete software solutions or custom-coded specific modules that can be implemented into your existing software ecosystem. Apart from the development, we offer consulting, integration, system support and application design solutions. We are Africa’s largest independent software development company.

What sectors do we have experience in?

From large multi-national corporations and government institutions, to small flexible enterprises, we have experience creating solutions for companies in the banking, financial, insurance, telecommunications, education and public sectors to name a few.

How big is our family?

We employ around 700 highly talented software engineers, system architects, application designers, business analysts, testers and digital strategists and tech-trend enthusiasts.

Who all is part of the BBD Group?

The BBD family consists of BBD, BBD India, Fusion Software, Ilion, Innosys and Xpertek Contact.

Ok, great! So where are we located?

The BBD head office is in Killarney, Johannesburg. But we have offices in Pretoria and Cape Town, as well as in Bourgas in Bulgaria and Pune in India.

What is our B-BBEE rating?

Sitting at Level 2 with a 125% recognition level, BBD is proud to say that we are 51% black-owned. A 49.9% stake is owned by Sphere Holdings, and Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP), a respected education charity, owns 1.1%. The remaining 49% stake in BBD is retained by the founders and management. We are currently unlisted.

What corporate citizenship do we partake in?

BBD is the proud supporter of numerous CSI initiatives. We believe in an educated and successful South Africa, and are proud to put our efforts where are mouths are.

One of the ways we’re doing this is as a founding partner and proud sponsor of WeThinkCode – a revolutionary tech-based learning institution dedicated to eliminating South Africa’s IT skills gap.

We donate time and computers to Vmite, a registered public benefit organisation that empowers young people from under-privileged backgrounds with the critical technology skills necessary to thrive in the current job market. Vmite works in schools where ICT labs have become white elephants, and train the teachers and learners on digital skills and innovative learning tools that can be integrated into the everyday classroom.

Through our internal awards programme where winning employees select a charity, we donate monthly to various charities. This is on top of the ad-hoc drives that BBD are honoured to support.
